Waroona & District Fires Appeal

Waroona & District Fires Appeal

On 6 January 2016 the communities of Yarloop, Waroona, Harvey and surrounding areas were impacted by a devastating fire.

The catastrophic fire affected an area of 69,000 ha with a perimeter of 398km. Tragically three people lost their lives, 181 residential properties, businesses and a large number of farming assets were destroyed.

Settlers Tavern collected donations, raised funds and made a large contribution by MATCHING EVERY DOLLAR to the Fires Appeal by Lord Mayor's Distress Relief Fund (LMDRF).

LMDRF is the recognised state emergency fund and provides relief for personal hardship and distress arising from natural disasters occurring within Western Australia.

Thank you to our fantastic community and generous guests for their support. You made a difference!

Donations big and small, together with fundraising activities including our weekly charity meat raffle made a huge total of $4,000, alongside Settlers Taverns' promise to match every dollar.

Grand total $8000!

Are you bushfire ready? Sadly, bushfires are a part of every Australian summer.

Since Margaret Rivers' devastating fires in 2009, Settlers Tavern made an ongoing promise to support the heroes that protect us in difficult times. The Margaret River Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service continues to amaze and astound with their commitment to fight for our lives and everything we hold dear without complaint.

We continue to raise funds for the Margaret Rive Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service by producing (at our own cost) and selling t-shirts, tea towels and hoodies with all proceeds being donated. Want to make a difference? Come into Settlers Tavern and purchase special merchandise - 100% proceeds to our local heroes!! See range
