YEASTIE BOYS HELP RAISE FUNDS FOR THE FIREYS

It is two years since the most destructive fires raged through the Margaret River region challenging the capacity and tenacity of our local volunteer fire services.

So with the power of the community spirit in mind and with a sense of remembrance, Settlers Tavern sponsored the 'Yeastie Boys' band to play at the 21 November, 2013 fundraising event.

The Yeastie Boys are Paul Bridgeman on guitar, Bill Downie on vocals, Mark O'Callaghan is lead guitar and Stuart Proud mans the drums. These extremely talented wine makers by day double as a serious rock'n roll outfit by night. Located in the amazing wine region of the Yarra Valley, Victoria they flew in exclusively for the event.

This awesome night of old school rock and roll commemorated the efforts of the Margaret River Volunteer Fire & Rescue Services and urged the community to raise much needed funds to keep the volunteer efforts alive. An overwhelming response from local wineries and businesses meant there was some serious prizes scooped up from raffle ticket holders. Funky tea towels, singlets and t-shirts were designed and are still on sale at The Tav extending the fundraising opportunity beyond this special night.

As we still tally the total funds raised, we know it was a huge success not only with funding but in bringing the community together to reconnect men, women and families to once again thank those individuals who in fact helped to save homes, lives and reinforce the generousity of the Aussie spirit.
