CinefestOz 2016

Margaret River's Opening Night for CinefestOz 2016 hosted by Settlers Tavern

Settlers Tavern has been a supporter and ambassador for the CinefestOz Film Festival since 2013, by hosting the Margaret River's opening night.

CinefestOz 2016 (Wednesday 24th August) was a sell-out show, all of our guests enjoyed a delicious three course meal prepared by Executive Chef Rick Houston.

CinfestOz screening followed, titled 'Risky Six' which was a collection of hilarious and dramatic short films.

At the evening's conclusion three filmmakers took to the stage to discuss their movie, the process and its success.

Film Festival History

Australia, like France is a country that loves film. Both cultures also enjoy good company, fine wine and food and the pleasure of living in a place of great beauty.

When the second CinefestOZ festival was opened in 2009 by Jerome Paillard, Executive Director Marche du Film, Cannes Film Festival, the links between the South-West of Western Australia and seaside towns such as St Topez and Cannes came into full focus.

The natural similarities and beachside beauty, plus the strong links forged by CinefestOZ's founders within the Australian and French filmmaking communities, makes the South-West of Western Australia the perfect place to stage its own film festival.

CinefestOZ is a production of the Geographe French Australian Festivals Incorporated (GFAF) whose Board of community volunteers is dedicated to producing one of the nation's top film festivals and attracting audiences and the film community to the shores of South West Western Australia.

The festival is now the fastest growing film festival in Australia, screening over 200 sessions across four locations with connected events. A team of professional staff and 250 volunteers help the festival deliver its outstanding program each year.  CinefestOZ is a not-for-profit entity.
