The Tommyhawks

The Tommyhawks (WA)

Saturday 1st July, 9pm. Free entry

Hailing from the windy city, the Tommyhawks are a rockin' indi-folk foursome who explode with gutsy, blues-fueled songs. Their music finds that sweet spot between rollicking melodies and punk-infused blues. They're endearing, they're raucous, they're most things in-between; and you may well come out with a crush.

Since forming in 2014 the girls have built a small army of Perth fans; and have a number of East Coast dates in the diary as they continue their love of #fourgirlsonevan and #groupweeingbythesideoftheroad travel.

Following their debut EP 'We're All Meat And We're Gonna Get Eat' (Sept '15) The girls lived in a van together for a month on the road, pushing their gear to venues in abandoned shopping trolleys, living on $4 pizza, hummus, baked beans and VB tinnies.

'Touring brought us infinitely closer - we'd be at a festival having spent 9 hours on the road to get there..and then find we still wanted to sit in the van together…and I think this really comes across in our new recordings' Addison (vocals/guitar).

Collecting festivals like belt notches; they've played Nannup (WA); Bridgetown (WA); Hidden Treasures (WA); Narooma Great Southern Blues (NSW), Mitchell Creek (QLD), Jungle Love (QLD), Disconnect (WA), St Kilda Fest (VIC), Fairbridge (WA), Mount Beauty (VIC) Blues + BBQ (NSW) and SOTA (WA). The 'hawks ran a successful crowd-funding campaign in the lead up to Xmas to get straight back into the studio with legendary producer Dave Parkin to work on their second EP.

Hollow will be the second single from it, and has already been nominated for WAM Song of the year.

With more collective energy than a bunch of kids on excursion to Perth zoo; prepare for hair-raising-raw vocals; melodic bass more in the pocket than your grannies hankie, dirty sax and distorted hooks that'll haunt you for days.
